How Footing Mat Calculator Works:
This tool helps calculate the number and length of reinforcement bars (rebar) in the X and Y directions of a footing mat for a pit.
- Input: Pit dimensions (Length, Width, Height), concrete cover, bar spacing, bar diameter, and number of footings.
- Effective Area: The calculator subtracts cover from all sides to determine the effective area for bar placement and calculates effective bar lengths.
- Quantity: The number of bars in each direction is calculated as $ (Effective \: Dimension \div Bar \: Spacing) + 1 $. This quantity is then multiplied by the "Number of Footings" to give the total quantity for all footings.
- Units: Output bar lengths can be displayed in Millimeters (mm), Feet + Inches (ft'in"), or Feet only (ft) formats.
- Export: Results can be manually copied for integration into a Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) spreadsheet. The history can also be exported to Excel or PDF for convenient record-keeping.
This tool is designed to be useful for site engineers, quantity surveyors, and civil contractors for quick rebar quantity estimation.
